Google Summer Party

Google Australia’s best client party ever!

Event Brief

To create a fun and memorable sales-led cross-functional event for Google’s clients in Australia as a thank you for their hard work and support over the past year.

The Result

The event was attended by a total of 1,295 guests, comprised of over 1000 clients and over 250 Googlers. 340 different companies were represented at the event, including advertisers, ad agencies, creative agencies, publishers, government, SMBs and Google For Work clients.

Event Planet created a Summer Campus themed party. The key objective was for guests to have a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon networking with colleagues and clients. The brief included ensuring attendees were “surprised and delighted” with the various elements of the event, particularly the great catering and live entertainment.

The venue, Sydney College of The Arts, remained top secret until the day of event, which kept guests guessing as to where it would be held and what was in store. The heritage, sandstone location in Rozelle provided the perfect blank canvas for this Summer Campus Party. Guests were transported back to their campus days from the moment they arrived.

An informative digital venue map created by Google was downloaded onto guests’ phones to ensure they knew where to find all of the different event precincts and could easily explore the activities on offer.

From the food quarter complete with food trucks; to the games zone of old school favourites like giant jenga and shuffleboard; to the chill out area featuring bean bags and acoustic music; and finally the music and dancefloor quarter where the headline act of Sneaky Sounds wowed guests. Pop-up entertainment including a marching band, acrobatic cheerleader performance, and dancing mascots! A Google Cardboard activation provided an underwater Great Barrier Reef experience.

It was a summer party like no other where guests embraced the ‘Summer Campus Theme’. Definitely a corporate event with a difference! Google Australia’s Director of Marketing described it as “Google Australia’s best client party ever!”
